Next time you go to the gunshop, the exercise repeats itself. So at the store, you pick them up, check overall fit and finish, aim at the wall, check for functionality, and price of course. I do read the reviews on the forums when they come up and find them interesting. So it goes to your impressions when you handle one at a gunshop with usually one or two single guns from the list. So, how do you make a comparison at all personally? And how many would allow you to dry fire a 22 revoler when you are clearly "just lookin"? I believe I have seen one of the Charter Arms Pathfinders in 22LR.

I've never seen a new model Ruger SP-101 in 22. The problem is I have never been to a gun shop that had all of these in stock where you can look at them individually and compare.Īt shops, I mostly see Taurus, occasional S&W 617's (more lately), and LCR-22's new for the most part. you can do a comparison that you actually matters. If you can line up a S&W 617, S&W M63, new Ruger SP-101, Ruger LCR-22, Taurus M94, and a Charter Arms Pathfinder. I think they deserve a look if you are shopping for a 22 revolver. Thanks Arrond for your summary on the Charter Arms Pathfinder in 22LR based on your experiences. I think it's going to be a fine little shooter for my friend. I was pleasantly surprised with the handgun, If you want a solid DA/SA revolver but are on a budget,ĭo yourself the favor of checking out the Charter Arms Pathfinder. The finish of the stainless steel was a wee bit better,īut again not enough to justify a $230.00 bump.Īll in all I'm pleased with the Pathfinder, It's trigger was worse than the Pathfinder I just purchased, I have also fired one of the newest model Ruger SP-101 revolvers, It's fit and finish were not worth a $310.00 price bump. In my not-so-humble opinion it's trigger was not any better, I recently got to shoot an almost new (less than 50 rounds) Model 63, MSRP of the Charter Arms Pathfinder is $459.00 They will probably fit her smaller hands just fine. If I were going to keep the gun for myself I would change them,īut it's going to be a graduation gift for a young lady, The rubber grips are very slender and resemble Pachmayer "Compac" grips, I expect it will take a bit of shooting to get all the internals smoothed out. I'll probably use some orange sight paint to fix that.īy tight I mean it needs some breaking in,Įverything moves where and when it is supposed to move,īut everything is a bit more effort than you would think is necessary.īut it is a bit "gritty" compared to a well used pistol, It seemed to disappear under bright light, The surface has more of a matte look than a glossy sheen. It's stainless steel but looks to be bead blasted, I was hitting water bottles at 25 yards with it. I went through 250 rounds of ammo the first day,ġ00 of Mini Mag, 100 of Remington Golden Bulk,Īnd 50 rounds of Federal Bulk from Wal Mart,Įvery round went off with a nice rim dent. I'm told that the HKS J-frame speed-loaders fit it. It fits a holster I made for a S&W Model 34 perfectly, It is virtually the exact size and shape of a S&W J-frame,

This revolver has a very solid heft to it and feels good in your hand. Okay, Okay, a Czechpoint is a bit cheaper, Overall I'm very satisfied with the little shooter. Thursday I took it out and ran some rounds through it, Wednesday I purchased a brand new 4" Target Pathfinder by Charter Arms,
